Terms of payment and booking
These general terms apply when you book accommodation such as overnight stays at campsites and cottage establishments, packages with overnight stays, travel and other arrangements that are provided through SCR’s (The National Swedish Campsite Association) booking system.
Who is responsible?
SCR, Box 5079, SE-402 22 Göteborg, Sweden, tel: +46 (0)31-355 60 00, org. reg. no 716408-5602, is responsible for the booking system. The campsite or cottage establishment with which you have booked accommodation or other products/services is responsible for your booking. Any complaints about your booking should therefore be reported to the establishment with which you have booked. Contact details for the booked campsite or cottage establishment are shown on your booking confirmation.
Age limit for bookings
To book/enter an agreement with us you must be at least 18 years old. Age limits may differ between campsites and cottage establishments. You should therefore always check the age limit that applies with regard to your booking. Identification may be requested when checking in. You will not be allowed access to the establishment if you are under the age limit.
When will my booking be binding?
Online bookings via camping.se are binding when you pay the deposit/full amount and receive confirmation of the booking. The booking confirmation consists of the booking number, which is sent by email. Check that your booking corresponds with what you have booked. The confirmation also includes your username and password. Save these in case you need to use them to make changes or cancel.
No booking fee is charged by SCR for bookings via camping.se. There may be local exceptions with the campsite charging a booking fee.
A booking fee of SEK 100 is charged for bookings via the Call Centre, tel. no. +46 (0)771-117 117.
Secure payment by debit or credit card. Your card details will be sent in encrypted form. The money will be taken directly from your card when you have entered your card details and completed your booking.
The following debit and credit cards are accepted for payment:
Direct payment via the bank:
Alternatively, you can make a direct payment via your bank. We have agreements with the following banks:
When should I pay?
If you book more than forty (40) days before the arrival day, you may choose to pay the full amount at the time of booking or a deposit of 10%. For part-paid bookings, the balance must reach us no later than forty (40) days before arrival. We will send an email reminder in good time for the balance, which can be paid via a link in the reminder.
All payments must be made by debit or credit card. If you choose to pay a deposit, the cancellation insurance and booking fee are also due, if applicable. If you do not have sufficient funds on your debit or credit card at the time of payment, a payment reminder will be sent to the email address you have given. If the payment does not reach SCR by the date stated on the payment reminder, your booking will be cancelled. If you do not pay on time, your booking will be considered to have been cancelled and the rules for cancellation will apply.
What happens if I want to change my booking?
You can change your booking at any time. Changes can be made at www.camping.se using your username and password shown on the confirmation. Alternatively, you can change your booking by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or via the Call Centre. A charge of SEK 100 will be made for changes to your booking via email or the Call Centre.
What applies if I want to cancel?
You can cancel your booking on your own via www.camping.se using your username and password on the confirmation. Alternatively, you can cancel by sending an e-mail to email@example.com or via the Call Centre. One of the cancellation methods above must be used for the cancellation to be valid. A cancellation sent directly to the establishment is thus not valid. The booking is considered to have been cancelled when you receive confirmation of the cancellation from SCR. A charge of SEK 100 is made for cancellations via email or the Call Centre. For cancellations later than forty (40) days before the arrival date, a cancellation fee is charged, as shown below.
The cancellation fees below are payable if cancellation insurance is not taken out.
- 40 days or more before the arrival date: 10% of the booking price (deposit)
- For cancellations 39-12 days before the arrival date: 50% of the full price
- For cancellations 11-2 days before the arrival date: 75% of the full price
- 1-0 days before the arrival date: 100% of the full price
You can insure yourself against the cancellation fee by taking out cancellation insurance. The cost of the cancellation insurance is presented when booking. Cancellation insurance can only be taken out at the time of booking. With cancellation insurance, you can cancel up to 24 hours before the arrival date for one of the reasons stated below.
- Death, illness or accident of a serious nature that has affected you, your spouse, live-in partner, or spouse’s/live-in partner’s parents, children, siblings or fellow passengers.
- Some other serious event occurs that is outside your control, e.g., extensive fire or flood in your home, that makes it inappropriate for you to be expected to use your booking.
- Being called up by the armed forces or civil defence.
You must be able to prove your impediment with a certificate from a doctor, authority or insurance company. Certificates submitted more than seven (7) days after the cancellation date will not be considered.
In the event of cancellation, the costs of cancellation insurance, changes and booking fees will not be refunded.
The booking shall be considered to have been cancelled when you receive confirmation from SCR.
Check-in and checkout times
Unless otherwise agreed or stated on the booking confirmation, check-in at campsites for cottages, luxury caravans, rooms and pitches is normally from 3 pm and checkout is normally by 12. It is up to you to find out the check-in and checkout times that apply to your booking.
If you have a Camping Key Europe, it includes special insurance for accidents at the campsite. Other than that, you are responsible for having sufficient insurance cover during your visit.
The Personal Data Act
SCR is responsible for handling the personal details you give in connection with the rental of a pitch/cottage at one of the campsites, holiday villages and other rental activities run by SCR’s members. Your personal details will be registered by one of SCR’s members or SCR directly if you register on SCR’s homepage on the Internet.
SCR will handle your personal details for the purpose of administrating bookings and payments at the establishments run by SCR’s members and to otherwise meet SCR’s or the members’ obligations and protect rights according to the agreements entered with you. The information may be given to a debt collection firm or authority/court for recovery, declaration and fulfilment of your contractual obligations.
The personal details will also be handled by SCR or its members for marketing purposes for their own products and services, and for other products and services on behalf of companies and organisations with which SCR or its members cooperate. Personal details may be given to companies and organisations that are members of SCR for the purposes stated. Your personal details will be stored for 36 months after the end of the agreement.
You have the right, once per year, at no cost, to request, in writing, to see the details that have been registered, where the information has been taken from and to receive information about any recipients to which the information has been given. You also have the right at any time to request correction of changed or incorrect details. You can also inform us that you object to your personal details being used for marketing. For questions, please contact SCR, Box 5079, SE-402 22 Göteborg, Sweden, +46 (0)31-355 60 00, firstname.lastname@example.org.
If the journey cannot be carried out due to an obstacle that is outside SCR’s/the organiser’s control and which SCR/the organiser could not reasonably have been expected to have foreseen when the agreement was entered and the consequences of which SCR/the organiser could not reasonably have avoided or overcome either, SCR/the organiser is free from liability for damages and other consequences. The same applies if cancellation of the journey is due to someone that SCR/the organiser has appointed or another party further down the line.
SCR/the organiser makes reservation for amendments to laws and/or price changes that are outside its control.
Unless otherwise stated on the confirmation, the price of accommodation does not include cleaning, bed linen, towels, cot/high chair, etc, though some campsites and establishments may offer these for hire. Remember to take what you require for your visit.
What are my obligations?
You have a duty to check the booking confirmation as soon as you receive it. Any errors must be reported immediately. Promises by the booking staff that are important to you should be noted on the booking confirmation if they are to be invocable.
You should follow the regulations and instructions that apply to your booking. Information about regulations is shown on the booking confirmation.
What if something goes wrong?
If what you have booked is not provided in the promised state or at the right time and you are not offered something that is equivalent to the booked object, you have the right to cancel free of charge. If this should happen, you will be refunded the full price of the booking. You will also be compensated for reasonable, proven costs that you have incurred as a result of the organiser breaking its undertakings according to the above. Deductions from these costs shall be made for any use you have made of another cottage, apartment, pitch, etc than the one that was booked.
Instead of cancelling, you may demand a reduction in the price of your booking. Complaints about your booking shall be forwarded to the organiser within one (1) day of the arrival date. Faults that arise during your stay shall be reported to the organiser immediately so that the organiser has the opportunity to remedy the fault. If you do not report the fault, you cannot demand compensation.
If you have received compensation but are not satisfied with it, you should report this in writing to the organiser within ten (10) days of departure.
What happens if the organiser and I cannot agree?
Firstly, you should turn to the organiser with any complaints. Secondly, you should turn to SCR. If you do not agree with the organiser or SCR, you can turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Complaints.
